Do I still want the front heights on the wall even though my mains are pulled out 3 feet from the wall? That would place the heights behind the mains. Shouldn’t the front heights be ceiling speakers placed in line with the mains?

Channa should we be placing the height speakers within the boundaries of the screen size? I have a 100” screen. So place them at the edge of my screen like my mains or should the heights be placed at the corners of the room?

you forget 5.1 is the bed layer for atmos atmos dose not need hights i only 5.1 with both atmos and dtsx

Hi, does this player playback Dolby Vision files as well like the Magnetar UDP800 or Panasonic UB9000 can?

I will do top rear and front height. Hopefully it can be close to the best because of room size.

I went straight to the lounge put in Top Gun Maverick with Atmos with the volume down and went through and turned this off. If someone can give me the reasoning for this option and others to only come up when an Atmos source is actually playing I would love to know! It seems insane to me that such an important setting would not only be on by default, But there should be somewhere in bold letters for every new user of an amp with this software to see! Thanks to you and your guest I’ve fixed this problem and holy cow the difference! Not just in volume but also how controlled smooth balanced and more dynamic the whole system sounds now! Watched this today for the first time. WOW. My 7.1 went to work!

The vault is great - until it fails. Then Bluesound has one answer. Buy a new one. WTF!! I'm serious. I have the emails. I now own a very expensive brick. Mine failed to properly download and install an update. At that point it was useless. BS support was useless. The firmware update was not interrupted. They hound the daylights out of you to install the updates, most of which seem to do nothing.

I liked the 10 but I missed some detail and refiness for orchestral music. Will those have this? And does it still sound like a source point since it isn't one anymore?

I agree with this. I find my 45 degree ceiling atmos speakers disconnected from the movie. I have a 7.2.2 The 2 atmos speakers are angled in-ceiling and at 45 degrees. Should I move them over the front L&R? Or replace them with on wall heights which would end up behind the front L&R since the front L&R are pulled 2-3 feet from front wall?

I don't get it. Magic Beans is designing a target curve, but I have a "target" sound in mind that I want my system to get as close to as possible. That's MY target--the sound I want. What makes the Magic Beans target better than mine? Magic Beans looks like a great way to make the filters, but the filters are to make my system sound as close to possible to what True Target thinks my target should be?

So would you say that the speaker layout for Dolby Atmos should be closer to Auro3D with speaker placement in corners facing down at 45°? Should they also be angled towards the listening position on the sidewalls and corners? Would like your input on that. I've been mulling over my Heights for a while now and looking for advice on where to put them and how best to proceed. I've always appreciated your no-nonsense input on performance versus aesthetic versus angles and following charts. Thanks, Techno Dad!

Only just found this video and i love this demo. It works very well for my up-firing Dolby speakers. But top centre to top centre back is a problem because my Dolby speakers are surround heights, not surround back heights. So the pan from above me to behind me doesn't work as well as it should. I did a test rewire and speaker substitution and your demo now works perfectly. So now I have to properly move my surround heights to the back and buy some more speaker wire. When they say ignorance is bliss I'm not sure about that. But it sure is less hassle and expense :)

This video was the icing on the cake, after much research this video allowed me to put it all "together". BUT, not in the way you may think. I was about to drop $10,000 and redo my just awesome man cave/home theatre (Paradign/SVS/Onkyo/REW) with new speakers/AVR so I can have Dolby Atmos!. You just saved me $10,000, as I have decided to do nothing and instead enjoy what I have :). I have too many issues with room layout/doors/walkway etc. to ever ever get a 7.3.6 system (currently I run 5.3) which I have come to realize is the only way to achieve what a guy like me will want. So net net I will do nothing, but thanks so much as the Dolby renderer you showed helped me understand the difference between a guitar coming out of one speaker vs a helicopter taking off and moving through the room.

I know there is a setting on these Panasonic UHD Players called "SDR/HDR Conversion (Network Service)." If that setting is turned on, does that mean the home screen for the player will be in HDR? I am wondering because I am looking for a player where it will go from a HDR Home Screen to an HDR disc.

Where does the home theater system get six channels of height information to feed your array, since Dolby Atmos and DTS:X distribute only 4 height channels? The whole idea of "object based" mixing is to have the AVR use the information from its room correction mike pass to model the number and locations of all the speakers and then mix the sound, including time delays, using those speakers to place objects properly in space.
